About Me

Lois Larkey, B.A., Ed.M, is a skilled educator who taught middle and high school for over 25 years in both independent and public schools. An experienced tutor in SAT/ACT, English and history, she specializes in helping students develop writing skills for subject matter and college applications. She successfully works with students on organizational and study skills.


She taught at both the Peck School in Morristown and the Horace Mann School in the Bronx, where she served on the Admissions Committees and developed curricula. She is NJ certified K-8 and high school history, with Master’s level courses at Seton Hall University.  For 13 years, she taught in the South Orange-Maplewood school system, including elementary, middle school and Columbia High School.  Subsequently, she was hired by Seton Hall to write a history curriculum for teachers of Japanese American and Chinese American students in Fort Lee, NJ.


As a parent of two daughters who graduated from The Pingry School, Wellesley, Middlebury and Columbia Business School, Lois has been highly successful in motivating her students to develop their intellectual potential and achieve their goals.


Lois is the founder of Lois Larkey Tutoring and College Counselling.
